So I wanted to talk a little bit about my newest favourite products on the blog today. I find as the weather gets colder my skin needs so much more moisture than it does in the summer and I realized recently how much it’s helped to change up my skin care routine. The following are some of my favourite products especially for the upcoming colder months.
During the summer I used Murad’s Correcting Moisturizer which is a lighter weight moisturizer specifically great for soothing red spots which I have a fair amount of. I have combination skin with the slightest tendency to get a little oily around my T-zone and Murad’s moisturizer proved perfect for keeping my skin balanced and hydrated, it was perfect for the summer. But as the weather got colder I felt like I needed a little more hydration, and after using La Mer’s moisturizing soft lotion I saw a big difference in my skin’s overall look. This was my first experience using any of La Mer’s products because let’s admit, it’s not inexpensive, but I have to tell you this stuff is so worth the money! As I mentioned I do have an oily T-zone and because this is more of an intense moisturizer I can’t actually use this product around my nose area. But the difference it made to my skin tone was astonishing. This stuff gives you immediate results and your skin instantly looks brighter, refreshed and dewey, I honestly already swear by this lotion, especially for the harsher cold winter months when your skin needs all the help it can get!
My absolute favourite lip shade for Autumn/Winter. Obviously lipstick shade preferences vary from person to person depending on skin tone etc. but I found this to be the perfect lip shade for me. They have a huge array of colours to choose from, and what I love about this lipstick particularly is that it’s very hydrating, giving you tons of moisture along with colour!
A girlfriend introduced this to me last year after I was amazed at the look of her skin after she put this lotion on. I haven’t tried any other monoi oil products so I’m not sure if it’s just because it has monoi oil as its main ingredient or whether its this body lotion in particular, but this stuff is going to hydrate your skin like crazy, and make it look dewey and beautiful. I can’t recommend this more, I now use it all year round and for $15 it’s well worth the purchase.
So this lash primer is nothing to do with the colder weather, but it is a new product I’ve been wearing and wanted to talk about. I was introduced to this by my mother-in-law (we’re both product junkies!) and I couldn’t wait to try it after she told me how much she loved it. I haven’t really been into lash primers before so I can’t tell you how it compares against others but what I can say is that I notice a definite difference between when I wear it and when I don’t. Dior boasts that the primer is so natural that you can sleep in it, and although of course you wouldn’t want to wear it on it’s own, it means that it provides a barrier between your lashes and your mascara (that might not be quite as good for you applied on its own). The primer also boasts triple volumizing qualities in its name and although I do feel it helps with volume somewhat I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’ve noticed a crazy amount of extra volume from it. I think that’s mostly down to your mascara which as you probably know by now I recommend Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme. But, all in all a great product and now part of my daily routine.
Getting up early is so much harder when it’s dark outside, don’t you think? As I’ve gotten older it tends to take me a good half an hour for my eyes to look somewhat normal and I’ve realized an eye cream is a necessary part of my daily routine. I use Murad’s Renewing Eye Cream twice a day, once in the morning to revitalize and at night to soothe and calm my eyes. I love this eye cream and definitely recommend it for the difference it makes.
