So I thought I’d create a new Friday’s Faves post of some of the things I’ve been loving, using, and some things I’m currently craving. So here we go:
// I ran out of my foundation last week so was in the market for a new one. After going into Sephora and asking for their recommendation, they pointed me towards Make Up Forever’s lovely array of foundation colours. I’d never tried any Make Up Forever products, and if I’m honest I think their packaging, and name, always put me off. It kind of looks like a cheaper brand to me, something you would find at the drug store… not that there is anything wrong with drug store foundations at all, I’ve used many of them, but at this specific time I wanted something really amazing which I hoped I would find at Sephora. Anyway, my point is that although the packaging and product name is not that great in my opinion, the product is actually primo! Like really really great. Maybe the best foundation I’ve ever bought. This may have something to do with the other make-up product I bought which I’ll come to (number 5) but the foundation is so natural looking, has a lovely finish and with Sephora’s colour match machine – yes they literally have a (I think patented) machine that tells them the best colour match for your skin, I have a perfect foundation match. I LOVE this product. That will teach me not to be a packaging snob!
// Ah Estee Lauder advanced night repair. Unfortunately Estee Lauder tend not to give out free samples any more… those were the days! But in the times I have got my hands on this sample I’ve always absolutely loved this product. It’s an overnight serum which has been about for years. You apply it to clean skin before bed, and let it do its magic over night. I honestly don’t know how it works – a closer look at the ingredients will probably shed more light, but this product is amazing. It leaves your skin feeling soft, supple, restored and refreshed. I also love its counterpart eye cream. Unfortunately I don’t currently own this because its not in my budget at the moment, but when it is I will snap this right up. Both products are amazing!
// These Steve Madden shoes!!! Need. Want. Hopefully coming soon to the blog!
// Garance Dore’s new book. She’s talking style, shopping, fashion weeks, high heels and how to be a beautiful woman inside and out. Ordered. In the mail. Can’t wait to read!
// My new foundation applicator! The original beauty blender. I’d heard so much about this product, and I’d been meaning to buy it for some time but with it’s $20 price tag I kept putting it off. Well… that was a mistake. I bought it along with my new foundation and I’m so glad that I did! They tell you to wet it first, squeeze out the excess then ‘bounce’ it on your skin for best effect, so when you do buy it make sure to do that. But ah what a difference this applicator makes! It gives the most flawless finish, no brush strokes if you use a brush, and a much better application than using your fingers (which is what I used to do). Can’t live without this product now!
// My go-to nude flats which I’m always raving about are back and sold by a few different retailers. I tell you no lie, I wear these all the time, they go with everything! I can’t tell you what great investment pieces they’ve been for me. Go buy these flats!
