I thought it was about time I did a little beauty post update about what’s currently in my make-up bag. I love to try and test out new products, especially those recommended by a friend. My girlfriends and I have a group text conversation going that’s often about make-up and what we’re currently using, and a lot of my recommendations below stem from these conversations. They’re tried and tested and every item I can honestly say I love. So here we go… my top picks and why.
I recently wanted to try a new foundation and one of my good friends recommended MAC for it’s really great coverage. If you want a light make-up (like you’re more of a BB cream kind of girl) this isn’t for you, but for good coverage this is amazing and it’s waterproof too so it’s not going to rub off… LOVE this foundation. I have this in NC30.
I’ve used this eyeliner for years. Every now and then I’ll go back to a less expensive eyeliner I have stored away to realize how much I love this one. It’s smooth, goes on really nicely and its bold in colour. I buy this in extra black.
My mother-in-law bought two of these the other day and gave me her spare and I am absolutely obsessed! If you’ve followed my blog then you’ll know that I’ve talked about my love for Revlon’s less expensive ColorBurst balm stains and although I do love many of their colours, I’ve never found a neutral that I like. This stick in ‘curviest caramel’ is my absolute favourite, and it’s really the only lip shade I’ve reached for in the past few weeks. The colour tends to last longer than Revlon’s version, but then it is $10 more expensive.. so all in all, a little pricey but in my opinion worth it, my absolute favourite go-to stick.
Okay so I think I’ve mentioned my love for the brow pencil before, and the love affair continues. Since my discovery I’ve tried a few different brands but now buy Sephora’s own brand. I buy their brand because it’s the least expensive of the luxury pencils, and if you use a brow pencil you’ll know that they don’t tend to last that long. In my opinion any of the higher end pencils are going to do the trick. This is the one product though that I would never buy at CVS… tried and tested, the lower end brands just don’t cut it. I buy my Sephora brand pencil in ‘honey blonde’, the lightest of the shades.
5. NARS blush
Nars blush is another product I’ve used for some time and I absolutely love the colours ‘oasis’ and ‘orgasm’. Blush tends to last such a long time for me that I don’t mind spending a little more on this higher end brand.
Hands down the best volumizing mascara. Doesn’t last quite as long without getting to that cloggy stage that I hate but it’s the mascara that’s going to give you the most dramatic volume. It’s expensive but in my opinion, worth it.
Love love love this pallet. It’s the only eye shadow I use and gives the most perfect neutral look. If eye shadow scares you then buy this pallet along with this Sephora brush set. The set includes everything you need to create a smokey eye including an explanation of each brush and how to use them. If you want, go into Sephora and ask them to show you how to use it, you’ll quickly get the hang of it. Love this product.
