I have a little obsession with New York City, and I’ve got to say I kind of forgot just how much I love it until our last trip there a couple of weeks ago. The hustle and bustle… the fact that there’s always a multitude of things going on… so different from Cape Cod life, but a really fun change of pace. Maybe I would get tired of it living there full time, who knows, but it was so great for a weekend get-away. I think one of the reasons we hadn’t been to NYC for so long was the thought of venturing into a big city with a baby. But all notions of the city not being ‘kid-friendly’ quickly dissipated when we arrived. Driving in was actually not as bad as I’d thought (well, with Eric at the wheel that is) and as soon as we got there we quickly realized New York just has so much on offer for kids. From the many parks, to the zoos, to toy stores and museums (the latter two we actually didn’t even get to), but Grace was happily entertained the whole time, and by the end really didn’t want to leave… I won’t bore you with our step-by-step activities but I will leave you with some recommendations for what to do/where to go if you chance to visit some time soon.
Fi and Sam – Was so good seeing you – hope we can rendezvous again soon!
Recommendations (Mainly based on our location of West Village)
Lunch & Dinner
Umami Burger (One of the best burgers ever had!)
The Loeb Boathouse – We didn’t actually get to eat here (mainly because it was booked up a whole week in advance) but everyone told us it’s amazing, a great experience, great location… in the heart of central Park
..Or for lunch buy some cold cuts from Citarella to take home and make into sandwiches… or to eat at the park. It’s one of the best gourmet markets we’ve been to with a bakery, deli… and has the freshest yummiest produce
If you go, enjoy! And I’d love to hear your recommendations if you have any for next time too!
