Last weekend my family and I spent the weekend on Chappaquiddick for a sail boat race that was based out of Vineyard Haven on Martha’s Vineyard. Eric’s family have owned catboats for as long as I’ve known them and are regularly involved in races during the summer months. Even though I don’t sail myself it’s fun to be on the boat while Eric does, and I’m hoping that one day Gracie will love it too… how cool would it be if she became a little sailor?! Anyhow, it was especially fun this time as we took my father-in-law’s beautiful new boat, Pinkletink (the boat in the pictures above with the big P on the sail). Pinkletink might be the prettiest catboat I’ve ever seen, built in 1932 in Osterville and kept in pristine condition. There’s nothing quite like being on the water in this boat and it was a lot of fun to have the opportunity to race it (or sit in the boat while Eric did!). My husband is quite the competitive type and racing with him is adrenaline pumping to say the least. Needless to say he did end up taking home the trophy for fastest boat in the wooden boat class, coming 4th overall (insert proud wifey face here). So, all in all a successful race, and good day had by all!
The rest of our time was spent relaxing on Chappaquiddick. We took trips to the beach, went on boat rides, and spent copious time outdoors. Grace and Bella (the two best friends) loving the space to run and run. Can’t wait for more sail boat races and Vineyard trips to come!
